Week #104

A soul sucking week, draining nonetheless. Worked almost everyday from 9 to 10. More than 10 hours definitely. Not that its not fun, but it gets unsustainable if I just forget what I am doing with my back and body.

I have got 0 reading done for this week, seriously 0. Not even books. I completed one book over the last weekend but that’s about it. Nothing else from that. Feels a bit rough week to be honest. I thought I might not be able to write this newsletter just as the time is 2 years about to be completed. It has been 2 years exactly this Monday will be 2 years since I wrote the #0 edition of this newsletter. Not a week missed. I feel good now.

I don’t know how to define a software engineer now, the part of software is slowly or rapidly shifted from just code to problems. How to orchaestrate and manage these agentic tools. I am not hyping it, people using it effectively are some skilled ones. Maybe its a specific niche but that’s what the world is hungry for now at the moment. So need to learn it rather than wait for it to pass.

Beautifully said. Someone would have had a heartbreak for be able to sympathize with the others and help prevent their hearts from breaking. Empathy is important to sustain this world of ours.

    1. I feel I was writing this but couldn’t due to its harder to focus on that. right?

    2. Well written. Working with LLMs is like diving into the ocean. One session creates the urge to open another, and another and check the first then second and it just messes up the mind so much so that I get exhausted in a couple of hours.

    3. The problem is not they are bad or addictive, its just my capacity to things. I can’t work on 3 things at once, I can’t focus on all of it, there is a limit to it. But then the problem is people want things becuase we have agents. The pressure to deliver and the capacity to delegate is just paralyzing me.

    • Yeah! you won’t fall behind man. This we needed to hear. Just keep on doing what you find fun. But is that always a option?

  • Theo: You are reading way too much code

    • Maybe this is true. But to add different things and support, we don’t need to add more support code right? to add new capabilities we need to read and read and write and write ? This is a bit chaotic statement to be honest.

  • Theo reacts to Bun and Zig drama

    • This was a bit bad from Zig. I didn’t knew the creator of Zig was that bad minded. I thought he was a bit educational minded. Turned out to be a bad assumption.

    • Bun was re-written in rust from zig using claude code, and I am surprised it didn’t break anything. Atleast majorly. That’s quite a achievement. It shows how much potential AI-Agents have only if you put in some upfront thinking to it.

Learnt

  • Claude is expensive

  • Solving problems is abstracted away crom code, code feels like a chore now

  • Shift + Option + Hyphen = — (em dash) in Mac

  • Huggingface attacked by OpenAI

  • Google drops Gemini 3.6 Flash and 3.5 Flash Lite
